COURMAYEUR SKI AREA. Courmayeurs pisted ski area is quite modest with 50km of pistes but this doesn't do the ski area justice. Part of the Aosta Valley ski area with a combined 350km of pistes, Courmayeur is perhaps best known for it's off-piste terrain. The ski area at Courmayeur has 1500m of vertical drop from the Arp down to Dolonne.

Facing the highest mountain in Europe, Courmayeur is a dramatic destination in the Italian Alps for hiking and walking. It's also located along the famous multi-day Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) trek. We traveled to Aosta Valley in May a few years ago and returned last summer, when we hiked the Tour du Mont Blanc.

Resort altitude of 1225m, with 100km of pistes from 1210m to 2755m. Attractive, atmospheric resort brimming with history and charm. Lots of good shops, restaurants and bars, and a good après-ski scene. Access to the world's longest lift-served run, the Vallée Blanche. Best for intermediate skiers, and good off-piste and heliskiing available.
